The Hodgson Mazda garage in Newcastle sold my daughter a new car despite the fact it had been recalled by Mazda due to brake problems and was classified as unroadworthy.The car shortly after rolled down a street after being parked causing substantial damage to car and property. The garage immediately gave my daughter a guarantee in writing that she would not suffer financially and asked for the car to repair the brakes. Unfortunately the insurers argued that the incident could have been caused by the lack of not leaving the car in gear despite the knowledge that the car was recalled because of brake problems and yet the garage had ignored the recall and sold the car.The garage then refused to honour their original commitment to refund the excess payment of my daughter a relatively small amount but not for a single parent. The stress caused by the incident was exacerbated by the garages initial promise but it does highlight the issue of recalled vehicles for anyone buying a new car especially from this garage.
